Amish Crafted Solid Quartersawn White Oak Cole Display Cabinet in Natural Effects Finish. This item is stocked in Natural Effects on Premium Quartersawn White Oak or special order in other size, wood and color. The Cole collection features an updated, modern style appropriate for the kitchen or dining room. Custom sizes are available. This cabinet features two adjustable shelves and two storage drawers. Drawers are made from solid wood with English dovetail drawer construction and full extension, soft-close, self-closing drawer glides. This cabinet is a versatile piece for the living room, dining room or kitchen.
White oak — much like red oak — is hard and strong, providing outstanding wear-resistance. It has a medium-coarse to coarse texture and varies in color from light tan to nearly white or light grey. At Simply Amish, we use quartersawn white oak for a unique aesthetic appeal.
The Natural Effects finish option gives the illusion of White Oak in its unfinished form. However, this table is protected with the industry's best varnish, offering the most durable protection available. At Simply Amish, we believe that if you’re going to build a piece of furniture that will last generations, then that furniture deserves to have the best finish possible. We use a non-yellowing, post-catalyzed varnish (or conversion varnish), which is one of the best finishes in the industry. It’s a lot more work to use a post-catalyzed varnish, but it’s worth the extra effort. Post-catalyzed varnish has a lot of advantages over lacquer. It has a much higher solid content, and is thicker, more durable, and more flexible than lacquer. It won’t crack or shatter as the solid wood expands and contracts, which is a natural occurrence with solid wood.

The Simply Amish story began in the 1970s, when bellbottoms and short shorts could be spotted just about everywhere — except in good Amish homes. Across the nation, a new age of convenience had arrived. Microwave ovens were becoming common-place, and fashion-forward housewives were ordering the latest kitchen appliances in a wide range of deceptively tasteful sounding colors, like Avocado Green and Harvest Gold. But in a time of rapid change and progress, no one in the city could buy a beautiful piece of Amish furniture without a long trip to the country. Until a couple of guys from the country came up with a novel idea. It all started in 1979, when Kevin Kauffman and his brothers joined their dad to learn the finer points of furniture construction on their family farm. Putting his experience to good use, Kevin soon joined forces with his uncle, John Mast, to start a company that would pursue a much larger vision. Together, the two partners eventually linked an entire network of traditional Amish workshops with a modern distribution system, and furniture lovers everywhere rejoiced. Joined later by Kevin's uncle, Butch, and a fourth partner, Kent Patterson, they soon hit their stride, transforming an innovative furniture distribution system into a great American brand. And Simply Amish was born.
