The Sunset Hills Dining Collection takes a fresh approach to classic Arts and Crafts design, and the style influence of early 20th century architects Greene and Greene, famed for their distinctive California bungalows. By stylizing and reinterpreting the recognizable forms and geometry of the era, a simpler composition is achieved and the result is fresher, younger, lighter and more versatile for todays lifestyles. Crafted in solid cherry, Sunset Hills employs the use of two finishes, Ebony, and Seely which allows the beauty of the wood grain to show through and multifunctional pieces that can be moved from room to room for an eclectic and contemporary approach to decorating

All Borkholder pieces are heirloom crafted in the heart of Amish country and their timeless designs and techniques have been used for centuries. By using tongue and groove tops, ship-lap solid wood backs and sign and dating each piece, you can be assured that each piece is built to withstand your lifetime. This collection of pieces is constructed of solid wood with solid wood drawer interiors. The Sunset Hills collection is full-extension stainless steel soft-close, self-closing drawer glide. All drawer boxes are constructed of solid wood with English dovetail joinery. Tops are tongue and groove which makes them incredibly strong and durable. Borkholder employee showing the care and quality put into each piece of handcrafted furniture Here, the ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement are being reinterpreted into fresh, clean-lined silhouettes, by high-caliber furniture designers adept at creating stylish furnishings that stand the test of time. As specialists in bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture sold via better-end retailers across the country, every piece is built to exacting specifications in family-owned and operated workshops located throughout the heartland. Borkholder’s position at the forefront of a new age in in Amish furniture is a modern-day success story powered by a combination of respect for its employees and the environment, as well as a synergistic relationship with larger parent company, Kountry Wood Products, a leading supplier of cabinetry for kitchen and bath. The unique association enables Borkholder to not only tap technology and equipment normally out of reach for a company its size, but also to hold fast to long-standing traditions while making continuous improvements in customer service, logistics and exclusive design.

Our Quality: Borkholder Furniture produces original, American-made designs for today’s modern lifestyles. This is furniture built to stand the test of time, thanks to talented craftspeople who regard their products both as works of art, and as furnishings to be used and enjoyed for generations.Committed to preserving a sense of community and careful stewardship of the woodlands, we build sustainable, environmentally friendly products with great care and attention to detail. Great attention is paid to the natural characteristics of the local hardwoods in the furniture-making process.

Our Process: Every piece of wood is hand-selected to match a specific design, often using the natural grain of the wood as a decorative element. Following an extensive drying process, the wood surface is prepared, made smooth and level using hand-held planes. Each piece is then hand-sanded to size prior to assembly and finishing of the design. As part of our environmental commitment, we utilize only eco-friendly finish formulas that are low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). While our furniture-making process incorporates sophisticated equipment, each piece is still produced by hand, one-at-a-time, using age-old techniques. Stain is painstakingly wiped again and again to ensure the natural beauty of the wood shines through. When satisfied with the finish color and quality, a sealer is applied, again ensuring that every side of the piece is well protected. The sealer is then sanded in a multi-step process requiring the type of careful handwork and extensive knowledge of woodworking that only highly skilled artisans can provide. We take pride in every piece of wood that crosses our path and it shows! Plain Sawn, Rift Sawn, and Quarter Sawn sections of wood showing its importance in the process Finally, the piece is ready for its topcoat, a catalyzed lacquer varnish that ensures a long-lasting finish that will protect this investment-quality furniture day-to-day for years to come. Decorative hardware, often custom designed for the piece is added, and drawers are fit to the cases, as are leaves to the tables, with careful attention paid to ease-of-use and smooth opening and closure. Inspected at every step of the production process, the finished piece is again extensively checked and cross-checked, and finally judged ready to be deemed Borkholder Certified. This exclusive stamp, signified by a special brass label, ensures that every piece meets Borkholder’s stringent quality standards, and marks it as an original, American-made, Borkholder design. To ensure the furniture arrives in pristine condition, we have built a state-of-the-art custom carton and packaging facility. Unique in the furniture industry, it’s an innovation made possible through the synergies afforded by our parent company, Kountry Wood Products, a leading producer of kitchen cabinetry. Once properly packed, cartons are secured with high-strength bands, labeled and staged for transit in small loads.
