Whitewood Industries, John Thomas Furniture’s parent company, was founded in 1982 as a manufacturer of solid wood, ready-to-finish furniture. As a 40-year-old company, we’ve evolved greatly into becoming a leading supplier of both finished and unfinished furniture throughout the U.S. We proudly transitioned to an employee-owned company in 2017. Our product is made entirely of Parawood, which is part of the maple family. It is valued for its dense grain, minimal shrinkage, attractive light color and ease of finishing. It is also prized as an "environmentally friendly" wood, as it makes use of plantation-grown trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing cycle. We use only high-performance, pre-catalyzed sealers/lacquers understanding that you don't just stand around and look at your furniture...you use it!
